Chosen Materials

The raw materials in each product are carefully chosen with consideration of the mission statement and core values. The materials are the single most important ingredient to ensure quality to last a lifetime. Everything sourced, from full grain leather to salvaged tyre tubs, comes with a tale to tell. Which is why Buan Crafts embraces the idea that nothing is wasted. Which is why nothing is wasted.

Beautiful hardware such as buckles, studs and rivets can make all the difference in the styling of a belt or a bag. I love brass and gold because it looks great against the brown and black coloured leathers, and adds a touch of elegance. Brass hardware was also chosen for its incredible strength and durable properties. Brass is much like leather in the way it will age beautifully and patina with use.

Components To Last A lifetime

Buan Crafts uses the finest quality leather available, a variety of different types and thicknesses are chosen for specific products. Most commonly used in products is premium vegetable tan leather. Vegetable Tanning is chemical-free produced leather that is given its colour through a natural process using natural tannins in tree bark and leaves. This tanning process generally takes between 30-60 days. Vegetable Tanned leather is famous for its remarkable ageing process known as patina.

All leathers chosen are also full-grain leather which is the toughest kind of leather and has the most character. Full grain leather is known for its durability, tighter grain, and its resistance to moisture. This type of leather preserves the outermost (and strongest) layer of the hide and preserves natural and unique markings. Embraces these imperfections on the hides through quality, keeping each product uniquely crafted.
